Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Classic Type - Key Clinical Features
(1) Major diagnostic criteria for EDS classic type include:
- Skin hyperextensibility
- Widened atrophic scars
- Joint hypermobility
(2) Minor diagnostic criteria for EDS classic type include:
- Smooth, velvety skin
- Easy bruising
- Molluscoid pseudotumors
- Subcutaneous spheroids
- Complications of joint hypermobility (eg sprains, dislocation/subluxation, pes planus)
- muscle hypotonia, delayed gross motor development
- manifestations of tissue extensibility and fragility (eg hiatal hernia, anal prolapse in childhood, cervical insufficiency)
- surgical complications (postoperative hernias)
- positive family history
